PS2/PS3…I suppose this has been asked a thousand times but all help appreciated.?
A friend has bought a PS3 and wants to play PS2 HitMan (bloodmoney) and The Godfather.
He is not online at the moment and i checked

This says Godfather has No issues (sles 53967) but cant find Hitman on the list ????
The trouble is he cant play any ?????
Its a UK machine, no updates (yet) its says its 1.50
NOW I know this is a couple of questions but any help is great.
Can i download to a data disc (DVD-R) to upgrade his PS3 ?????
Why wont Godfather work when list says OK ????
If cant use data disc can I unplug my PC and connect his PS3 to my ethernet and let it download ???

You said he has system version 1.50 which is too old. PS1 and PS2 compatibility issues were fixed with version 1.70 and later.
You can download or transfer the latest firmware (version 1.93) onto flash memory or an SD Card from your PC. Insert either one of these into the PS3 and have the PS3 update the firmware from the card instead of using the internet. That would be your easiest option, however, you CAN hook up your friends PS3 to your modem and have it update that way although it would be more work.
My suggestion….. download the latest firmware from the SONY site onto a flash memory card or SD card and have your friend’s PS3 update the firmware stored on the card.
Once your friend updates his PS3 with the latest firmware, he’ll be able to play the games you mentioned with no problem.
BOTTOM LINE: You’re friend has an old firmware version installed. That’s why he’s not able to play Hitman or The Godfather for the PS2 on his PS3. Once he updates his PS3 with the latest firmware everything will be fine.
