Check out the links in my sources. Since you’re writing a paper about video game addiction, let me give you my two cents… most people that play video games are not addicted to them. They may play them all the time, but the addicts are the ones that put video games as a priority over real life. MMORPGs are, in my opinion, much more addictive than console games or single player games. You are constant competing with real people in a fake world. World of Warcraft, the most popular MMORPG right now, has been known as a very addictive game. I personally know people that are addicted. Some people quit their jobs so they can play full time. Some families get divorced because of this addiction. WoWdetox.com has tons of personal experiences of players who were/are addicted to WoW. Video game addiction is real, and it can be serious.
