Ok, I am planning on getting my nose pierced this week, but I have a few questions..?
Ok, So I play high school volleyball & we are starting our spring practices next week & our regular season starts in August. So if I were to get my nose pierced this week it would be exactly 4 or 5 months that I would have had it in August. So if I needed to would it be ok to take it out for games? Or should I just try putting in a clear retainer? Does anyone know the regulations on piercings?
Also, summer is coming up & I read a few articles online saying that you can NOT swim in the ocean or pool while it’s healing? How long does the healing take? & can you really not swim in the pool or ocean?!
I live at the beach, so I’m kindy iffy about getting it pierced now…
I would recommend putting in a retainer for games. The nostril piercing can close extremely fast, especially on the inside. You don’t want to change it very often while its healing, but after 4-5 months you should be fine to change it for games. I don’t know the regulations, but most high schools do not allow any piercings for any sports. I was on the bowling team in high school (nerd, I know!) and they made us take our piercings out for that!
I do not recommend swimming while your piercing is healing. Submerging your piercing in any unhygenic bodies of water (lakes, oceans, pools, hot tubs, etc.) introduces bacteria into your piercing, even if it is a chlorinated pool. Also chemicals in pools and whatnot can irritate your piercing. If you go swimming, I recommend keeping your head above water and cleaning it when you get home from swimming.
