Online Gaming Hughesnet

A few questions about Satellite internet services?

First of all, I live in the middle of no where. I have dial-up now, and DSL doesn’t reach where I live. I got this flyer in the mail about Hughes Net internet, and that’s about all of the Satellite internet things I know about.

Are there any other internet services like Hughes Net?

On Hughesnet.com it says there’s a almost 400 dollar installation fee, is there mabye any Satellite stores I could get to install it for cheaper?

Is it good for online games, such as Runescape and World of Warcraft?

Can you use more than one computer on it at a time, like use a computer and a laptop?

Can you use Xbox Live and such on it?

DOES IT DISCONNECT EVERY 2 F*CKING MINUTES?

AOL disconnected 10 times trying to post this. :) Mother fucking hell. :)

Hughes Net is one of many internet providers that use satellite. Wildblue and Starband are two other well known internet providers that use satellite. Satellite internet is terrible for any sort of games other than chess, and other turn based games. It is not as fast as they advertise usually since there are so many users fighting over the same satellite. They also have a FAP, which is when you can only download or upload a certain amount of data in a certain amount of time. After that speeds are dial-up speeds. Is it also expensive compared to other broadband connections. Satellite internet still has a long ways to go… I would recommend googling or yahoo searching it to find out all the details….

I would recommend you look into a wireless internet provider, that offers truly unlimited data usage. At&t, Verizon, Sprint are not recommended, since they limit your monthly usage to something like 5GB. You should look in the back of your local phone books.. they often times have pages where if you have any local wireless providers.. they would be listed. However not all wireless broadband services are suited for gaming…..
