Falling sand game
History
The game appeared as a Java applet on the Web Dofi-blog (Japan) in 2005. Falling Game Forums Sandy has been established in 2006 and is the first to share creations of sand and mods. wxSand sand, warm, and were created EnigmaSand Fallingsandgame.com shortly after it was created, with that "moddability" a series of games. Fan-made games like Pyro sand 1 and 2, tehSand and quicksand were created in the next few years, numerous small projects.

Although different sets of sand have differences, they share many characteristics:
Platforms
wxSand is the only downloadable game with a version for Macintosh, which is not based EnigmaSand in Java. They may be able to run Linux using Wine. Browser games are playable on any computer with Java installed.
Tools
All games have Adjustable pen sizes. Some allow the user to select the pen shapes. The pen is usually controlled by the mouse (Sand Etch-a-Sketch is an exception.)
The ARENA
Downloadable games can also save "sandbox", or images that can download websites image hosting, and then download and play in the game. BMP, PNG and GIF are commonly used, JPG is not due to compression.
Modding
"Modding is the act of creation of new physics for games. Browser-based games can not be edited, but most games can be downloaded. Mod authors often share their modifications in the forum or wiki.
Physics
Most games use the physical arena very simple: either increasing the particles fall, or fixed, and may be derived from a side to side. Powder game is one of the few games with realistic physics, such as wind and pressure.
