Should i drop out of my school and get online classes instead?
My school pretty Janky. People say go to school and get an education well i go to my school and you know what we do, we play playstation and play online games and we do very very very little if anything in books and when we do its all on the computer and the answers are just fed to us. Basically we learn nothing and the school board knows it and doesn’t care the teachers are getting paid so they don’t care they even tell us this. We have the worst test scores in the entire county (largest county in the state) because we do nothing but watch movies and play playstation and play on the internet. Do you think i should just get online classes or something.
I was thinking about just transferring to another school but i found out i have to pay big bucks for it. about 3000 dollars a year and we can’t afford that.
Do your parents know what your school is like? If so, they should be complaining to the school board, local officials-anyone and everyone with any authority! It’s a disgrace that a school should be allowed to teach in such a manner.
You didn’t say what grade you’re in, but, I imagine, it’s before the first required regents exam (9th grade). The kids are probably glad to be allowed to fool around on school time, the parents probably think their kids are getting a great education, because they get good grades…well, everyone is in for a rude awakening, once the regents are required.
But, until then, you need to find a way to get an education-if possible, a good education. Does your family go to church? If so, find out if there are any parochial schools in your area. Many are excellent. Prices for tuition vary, but once the officials are told about the state of your local public school, they may direct you to some scholarships.
But, you can also do some reading on your own. If you have any hobbies, treat them like school courses-not groaning “ooh…I HAVE to do this” but, as something you learn because you WANT to. Try to find some old textbooks. They may do no good on their own, being out of date, but they may lead you to something you are interested in.
Do both of your parents work full time? If not, maybe they can home school you. Home schooling is probably the best option, for getting a real education. If your parents don’t have the time, maybe they can work something out with some other parents who are home schooling.
Most adults remember the days when schooling and education were nearly synonymous. They just have to learn that it’s no longer the case.
You have a good start-just recognizing the fact that you aren’t being properly educated puts you miles ahead of most school kids-who would love to get good grades for just playing!
