why do people purposely misspell words in comments online?

Take this comment I found on youtube for instance?

“ok you know what thares no point in takeing side of wich is better WoW or WAR WoW is an amazing game and WAR looks awsome to. you guys that are picking sides just seem bord and like you have nothing better to do just watch i bet half of you that say WoW is better will go out and try this game all MMORPGS are the same none of them are copying eachotehr thare just makeing things that the people like and what will sell and what ya know medevil stuff sells nobody is copying anybody so calm down”

And this isn’t an isolated event, I see this type of pathetic use of the English language on a daily basis through blog comments across the web. Is this done on purpose? I surely hope so, because if not, then the comedy “Idiocracy” will become a documentary.

Those that misspell words on purpose is either trying to get around automatic censorship programs that edit out profanities or they think that misspelling certain words are cool. (The later often occurs in cliques.)

Unfortunately the rest is not on purpose, it’s how the reality looks. One more click to use the spell check is one click to much for them. [Edit] I just remembered that most comment boxes don’t have a spell check link, that makes it even harder for them to use a spell check. [End Edit] Proof reading what they have written takes too much of their time, and they don’t mind how their writings makes them look.

Remember that many internet users do not have English as their first language or are children. They might be doing their best and the result is what you see. Some doesn’t know how to use spell check. As an example, my spell check suggests the most ludicrous words sometimes when I misspell something. English is not my first language and I was a horror before I found way to spell check my writings and also found an online dictionary where I could look up words I wasn’t sure of.
